Outreach Services

The Capital Area District Library (CADL) provides outreach services to people with special needs who do not have convenient access to a library. The service is free to those who reside within the CADL service area.

Our Commitment

CADL is committed to creating an environment where people with special needs and/or disabilities are treated with respect and provided with independent access to collections and services. Also see our Accessibility Policy for more information.

Our services are intended to meet information needs and enhance leisure time activities. For more information, please call Outreach Services at 517.367.6308.

Book Nooks

Book collections are located in senior citizen residences, community centers and the Ingham County jail. The contents are primarily large print books of various types or reference materials that can be used for tutoring programs.

Books by Mail

This service allows patrons who are disabled or infirm and have no convenient access to a library to borrow materials by mail. Books, audiobooks, CDs, videotapes and DVDs are loaned to patrons with no charge for mailing. Patrons either request specific items or create a user profile so that appropriate items can be chosen for them.

The Bookmobile

Outreach services operates the CADL Bookmobile. The Bookmobile is ramp–accessible and can accommodate most wheelchairs. Visit our online Events Calendar for detailed schedule information or click here for a printable version. To find a Bookmobile stop near you, click here.
