Hail to the Chef by Julie Hyzy

If you didn’t catch the first book in this presidential/culinary mystery series, check it out. Hail to the Chef is the second outing for newly promoted White House Executive Chef, Ollie Paras, (following The State of the Onion) who is prepping for the holiday events when the First Lady’s nephew is found dead of an apparent suicide within a day of helping her in the kitchen. Between that and the suspicious death of a White house electrician, Ollie is sure there’s more to both deaths. This is a fun and funny culinary mystery in the high stakes setting of the White House, with the added issues of a matchmaking First Lady, mandatory bomb threat training at the peak of the holidays, and attempts to rig the annual Gingerbread House contest. Fans of Diane Mott Davidson and Joana Fluke should enjoy.
