Green Living
We’ve gathered a number of resources with a “Green Living” theme to help you save money and energy.
The Capital Area District Library is committed to reducing costs,
consumption and environmental impact. For example, this guide was
printed on paper made of 100% post-consumer fiber. Some of the items we
routinely recycle include:
- Used books, cardboard, magazines, newspapers and office paper (over 50 tons each year)
- Obsolete computer equipment
- Used toner cartridges
- Fluorescent light bulbs
- Scrap metal
This year we auctioned off used computers, keeping them out of
landfills and generating income for the library (over $7,000 to
date). We also continue to offer information and events with a green
living theme, such as this program about the locally grown food
movement:
Community Supported Agriculture
What is a CSA and how does it work? What are the benefits of locally
grown food, both for individuals and communities? Rebecca Titus from
Titus Farms in Leslie will be here todiscuss this important
topic.
