Annie Gordon Receive's Director's Award!

The recipient for the August Director’s Award is Annie Gordon, Head of Public Service, Okemos Branch. Whether it be answering a BookSleuth Live request, enhancing the in-person library experience for members, or coordinating staff training, Annie’s skill and dedication have a powerful impact on the CADL community, both internally and externally. Here is a summary of some of the comments that were sent in:

“Annie has done a bang-up job organizing staff reading challenges and being a consistent leader for Readers Advisory efforts at CADL. She whizzes through BookSleuth Live requests (seriously, she is uncannily fast!), with selections that are thoughtful, insightful, well annotated, and also reflect the diversity of CADL's materials and interests from our community. She is instrumental in keeping BookSleuth Live going and is a frequent volunteer for BookSleuth P.I. as well. 

Within her branch, Annie goes above and beyond providing desk coverage as needs arise. Her program, display and overall work efforts are always super well-organized and creative. Lastly, she has embraced fully the challenge of revitalizing Okemos' adult titles. Her consistant maintenance and thoughtful ways of rearranging the adult fiction collection enhance the browsing experience. Most recently, Annie’s willingness to pitch in includes painting at the branch to make the environment more appealing. 😊

Annie has stepped up to co-chair the CADL Conference planning committee for the second year in a row. Her organizational skills keep all tasks and timelines on track. She ensures that all details are thoroughly addressed. Annie also helps with new hire staff training.

I really appreciate Annie’s attention to detail and that she wants us CADL/Meridian/Okemos to be and do better. She is always thinking about ways we can improve and helping us move forward in a new direction.”
