Art Gallery Opens in Williamston Branch
Williamston resident Michelle Eichler always hoped to have a permanent space to display different pieces by Williamston artists. Thanks to a partnership with the Williamston Branch, that hope has become a reality.
Art Williamston is a new art gallery that showcases, nurtures and extends the arts in the greater Williamston area. The art gallery recently opened its doors within the Williamston Branch, giving local artists the audience and recognition they deserve.
The Friends of the Williamston Library worked with the board of Art Williamston to donate space for the gallery, which will feature a new exhibit quarterly. The exhibits will focus on a diverse range of subject matter, mediums and styles. Some exhibits will be centered on a theme and will invite local talent to submit work in that sphere, while other exhibits will focus on artwork from one or two people.
The first exhibit, titled “Unveiling Our Heritage – Introducing Artists of Williamston,” features a wide range of artisans, including established artistic icons of the area and up-and-coming artists. The first exhibit is currently available for viewing and the gallery’s hours correspond with library hours.
At CADL, we often say that our libraries offer more than just books. They offer educational resources, programming for all ages, online tools and more. Now, we get the chance to say we offer an art gallery. We hope library patrons and art enthusiasts take this opportunity to visit the Williamston Branch and check out the art gallery, and maybe a book or two while you’re at it.
