Farewell, Haslett, It's Been a Privilege
“How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.” -A.A. Milne (Winnie-the-Pooh)
My last day as your Head Librarian is January 31. What a privilege it has been! We’ve accomplished so much together, Haslett. With your support, I’m leaving the library a better place than I found it in 2005.
- We navigated the 3500 square foot School St. building with grace and civility. Remember how crowded that little library could get?
- Our voices raised the roof and enough money to ensure that CADL Haslett was relocated to the empty, nearly 12,000 square foot Meridian High School building.
- We moved a library together and made it beautiful and functional on a budget.
- We used the new space as a third place – that’s a great, good place at the heart of a community!
- We shared movie and book recommendations with each other. My patrons are the people I most enjoy talking with about good reads.
- You, Haslett, are the smartest, kindest community of lifelong learners any librarian could hope to serve.
I’m retiring to my next career and am so fortunate to land the second dream job of a lifetime – latchkey grandma to Olivia and Jack! I’ll miss you and will remember my time serving this fine community fondly.
Thanks for everything!
Ann C., Head Librarian of CADL Haslett
