Dyslexia Titles for Children
Letting children with dyslexia choose books reflecting their interests is an important way to encourage reading practice. Look for rich, interesting, fun stories that are also accessible to the reader. Some books are designed to be more accessible for children with dyslexia.
Look for:
- A font style and size that is clear to read.
- Off-white paper reduces glare and eye strain.
- Spacing between letters, lines and paragraphs.
- Less text to a page and more pictures. Graphic and illustrated novels can be a great choice for high-interest and lots of visual cues.
- Shorter chapters to give the eyes a natural ‘rest’ break.
- Straight left margin and no right margin. Avoid text written in blocks.
