Sherri McConnell announced as CADL Stockbridge's Head Librarian
Capital Area District Libraries is pleased to announce that Sherri McConnell will be the new Head Librarian at the Stockbridge Branch. Sherri has worked for CADL since 2007 when she started as a library assistant at the Okemos Branch. It was during this time she worked on and completed her master’s in Library Science.
From there, she moved into a Public Services Librarian role at Holt and most recently the Collection Development Specialist where she selects non-fiction and A/V materials for all CADL branches.
So what does Scott Duimstra, Executive Director of CADL have to say? “Sherri’s bringing her unique experience and skillsets to the Stockbridge community, and I think residents will enjoy her friendliness and dedication to providing a welcoming and open community library.”
Sherri is taking over for Paul Crandall, who’s last day after announcing retirement was Friday, April 26.
“I was so pleased to hear that Sherri would be replacing me as the head of the Stockbridge Library”, said Paul, “I’ve had the pleasure of working with her on a couple of projects and can tell she’ll be a great fit for this branch and this community. With Sherri complementing and leading the already very strong staff here, the library and the community are in good hands!”
Sherri said “I’m excited to work with the public again - to create programming and provide services that are shaped to meet the needs of a community. Stockbridge reminds me of the community I grew up in”.
She continued, “Paul very clearly cared, and still cares, not only about the community but the collection at the library. My hope is that I can provide people in the Stockbridge area the same level of service that he’s given over the years.”
Sherri McConnell’s first day will be Monday, May 13. Feel free to stop by CADL Stockbridge and say hello!
