South Lansing Library Incident

We are deeply saddened to report that on Nov. 27 an individual was shot in the parking lot outside of our South Lansing branch. The individual subsequently entered the library seeking assistance. Our staff promptly contacted emergency services and the individual was transported to the hospital where we're told they succumbed to their injuries. There were no other injuries reported among our members and staff.

The safety and wellbeing of our members and staff are of utmost importance to us. We are fully cooperating with the local authorities as they investigate this tragic incident.

The South Lansing branch will be closed until further notice as we work with the authorities to ensure the safety of our community. We are also arranging support services for the staff and members present during this traumatic event.
