Thank You to our Generous Community
This month I’d like to highlight and express my gratitude for two examples of community support for the library.
The Dansville Branch recently received a special gift. Sitting outside the main entrance to the library is a beautiful bench donated in honor of Holly A. Cornett by her family. Ruth Fox, Holly’s sister, told me that while growing up in Dansville the sisters frequently visited the library which at that time was located across the street in the Village Hall. Ruth recalls that in childhood Holly enjoyed reading books about animals and carried that love of reading into adulthood. She mentioned that Holly traveled the world and always had a book or two with her. Holly’s many talents led her to vocations of sailor, helicopter pilot and chef. It sounds like she was a fascinating woman with many stories who will be missed by her family and friends.
The mission of Capital Area District Libraries is to empower our diverse communities to learn, imagine and connect. Each CADL branch is supported in that mission by a Friends of the Library group, composed of volunteers who raise funds and advocate in support of libraries. With National Friends of Libraries Week recognized from October 20 - 26, I’d like to thank all the individuals who give their time and talents. The Friends are sponsoring the upcoming Halloween Magic Show on Tuesday, October 22 from 6-7 p.m. in the Village Hall. Performer and magician Cameron Zvara will provide a high-energy and family-friendly experience.
