We Won the Grant!
Thanks to the community's help, Capital Area District Libraries (CADL) has been named a 2023 Digital Michigan (DigMich) Newspaper Grant winner! This means CADL will receive a digitization grant from the Clarke Historical Library at Central Michigan University to digitize 1970-1977 copies of the Ingham County News newspaper.
"We are so pleased to be able to make more information about our often-overlooked rural communities freely available to a wide audience, especially genealogists and historians," said CADL Local History Specialist Heidi Butler. "This digitization grant means that CADL Local History can add another eight years to the accessible digital collection, which currently covers 1860 to 1969."
CADL, along with Bellaire Area Historical Society, won the grant by receiving the most Twitter votes during the week of Feb. 20-28. We want to thank everyone who went on Twitter and tweeted "#DigLansing." We wouldn't have won without you! Community members can learn more about CADL's grant application here.
