2024 Summer Reading Challenge

Two ways to track your reading time & activities:

Log Online with Beanstack

Available as a webpage or convenient app, Beanstack is a fantastic tool for tracking you and your family's Challenge progress. Earn fun badges and access special reading lists assembled by CADL staff!

Use a Printed Log

A paper log is available for each Challenge. Pick one up at any CADL branch, or click the links below to download.

Each participant will be asked their age during signup. This determines what Challenges they qualify for.

Reading abilities and preferences can vary significantly from person to person, especially among children. For this reason children may be able to choose between two Challenges - Babies & Toddlers or Children, and Children or Teens.

A child or their caregiver are encouraged to choose the challenge they believe best suits them and their family.

Claiming Prizes

Anytime you reach a prize level you can go to your local CADL branch to pick it up. Keep reading to increase your chances of winning drawing prizes! The last day to pick up prizes is Aug. 3.

Reading with Challenges

The benefits of reading may be universal, but everyone experiences reading differently. Below are some solutions for common reading challenges.

Reluctant Readers

Some people have a hard time getting into books, and that's okay! There are reading options for adults and kids who don't like to sit still, desire more visual stimulus than traditional books provide, or just haven't been drawn into any topics... yet. If you or your child are a reluctant reader, a CADL librarian will be happy to help find something you will enjoy!

Can't Access the Library

Any number of health or transportation challenges can make it impossible to visit the library in person. If you live in our service area, require physical books and can't access the library, you may qualify for Books by Mail - A service where we ship your checkouts straight to you!      Learn More     Visual Reading Challenges

Blindness and poor vision, dyslexia, migraines, and motor function issues and more can make reading a challenge for many. Large-print titles and books on CD are available in our collection. Our digital resources for eBooks and eAudiobooks have many accessibility features; including OpenDyslexic font, dark mode options to reduce visual strain, customizable text sizes, screen-reader support and more.
