In a departure from her Psy/Changling series, Singh has started an urban fantasy series set in a world where Archangels effectively run regions of the world and “make” vampires of a chosen few. Those vampires remain in service for some period of time but occasionally they try to bail early or lose control of their abilities and become a terror to the human population. That’s when the Guild Hunters are called in, and Elena is a natural born hunter. In the series opener she’s hired by Raphael, the Archangel of New York, to track down something more dangerous than the average vampire. Elena and Raphael are intriguing characters that develop as the series continues. More fantasy/horror than romance--fans of Laurell K. Hamilton (Guilty Pleasures), Eileen Wilks (Tempting Danger), and Patricia Briggs (Moon Called) should check these out.  Follow it up with Archangel’s Kiss and Archangel’s Consort.
