Once Upon a River

A humorous, gritty and lush journey down a Michigan river.

After her father’s murder by a relative, Margo needs to leave the only home she knows. This beautiful gun toting, sharpshooter of a teen takes her grandfather’s canoe, the River Rose, and begins a journey into rural Michigan in search of a true home, love and safety. Meeting a cast of characters in various episodes along the way, Margo proves she is no wilting violet. The lyrical descriptions of the river and natural environment are memorable. 

Bonnie Jo Campbell lives in Comstock Mi, teaches writing for Pacific University of Oregon and has earned an M.A. in mathematics and M.F.A. in creative writing from Western Michigan University.
