Stephen King dubbed it "canine noir"...

This was one of Stephen King's "Seven Great Books for Summer" (2009). It's a great hardboiled detective story with the a unique narrator--Chet, trained police dog turned PI's dog. He's a smart but easily distracted voice for the novel making it a fun and suspenseful read.
