Arde el Cielo: Vivo

Check out a live version of Mexican folksong “El Rey”, rock and roll style.

Maná is by far my top choice for Latin/Pop Rock bands. Hailing from the great state of Jalisco, Mexico they remind me of the English rock band The Police, but (dare I say it?) they’re better! Lead vocalist Fher Olvera nails it time and again with his distinctive sound and energy. I’m drawn to this CD in particular because there is a live version of “El Rey”, a classic Mexican folksong written by José Alfredo Jiménez. Mariachi bands usually sing it, but hearing it done by Maná inspires me to belt it out with the best of them.
