So maybe a novelist tagging along with an NYPD homicide detective isn't actually possible, but that doesn't stop this remarkable show.

 

Nathan Fillion (Firefly, Buffy the Vampire Slayer) stars as Richard Castle, the "ruggedly handsome" mystery novelist. He antagonizes NYPD Detective Kate Beckett, and tags along on her cases often coming up with some really far fetched theories about why the crime was committed.

 

What makes this show for me is all of the "in" jokes. References to Firefly, comic books, and cameos by popular mystery authors (Cannell, Connelly, Patterson) really make this a good watch.
