Put Your Needle Down

This group just recently came to my attention opening for Nickel Creek (though you might recognize them from The Hunger Games: Songs from district 12 and beyond) and they are fabulous! They skirt that interesting line between folk, traditional country, and rock. “Black and Blue” has that 50s girl group feel and both it and “Let There Be Lonely” bring to mind sound of The Everly Brothers. “Iuka” is a fabulous murder ballad recently featured on The Tonight Show. My favorite track is probably their cover of P. J. Harvey’s “Pocket Knife.” Fans of Emmylou Harris, Gillian Welch, Carolina Chocolate Drops, or The Mavericks should all give this a listen.
