American Teacher

I’ve always admired educators.  In my opinion teaching is one of the most important professions in our society.   According to this film, there are approximately 3.2 million teachers in the United States.  In the next decade over half of them will be eligible for retirement.  Who will replace them?

Unfortunately, given the financial, status, and political stressors that face teachers today, many bright college students do not even consider pursuing K-12 education as a potential career path.  This documentary examines the institutional and societal conditions, which are making it increasingly more difficult to be a teacher in America.  Most importantly, it asks how will we continue to provide a good public education for future generations.
