Heft

Over twenty years ago, while teaching an English course, Professor Arthur Opp met Charlene Turner, a young college student. Although there were significant differences in age and socio-economic class between them, they were both drawn to each other and subsequently formed a close, but innocent friendship.  Heft is the story of repercussions caused by this unlikely relationship.  The consequences of which would deeply effect both of their lives for many years. 

 
I liked this book because it examines the boundaries of friendships and family relationships.  It questions the assumptions and misconceptions that people make about the nature of relationships and the motivations of those that form them. Heft also delves into the pervasive feeling of loneliness which is a common but often ignored aspect of modern life.
