Most biographies I have seen of Malcolm X concentrate on his life after twenty and his work as an activist. This one focuses instead on his formative years in Lansing and Boston. While X is a fictionalized account, the events themselves have been pulled together from Malcolm X’s diaries and first-hand accounts of friends and family. This book is a captivating look at the early life of a fascinating historical figure and is well worth the read.
