Today is Christmas

I was pleasantly surprised by Rimes’ new Christmas album. It’s a nice mix of what I think of as children’s picks like “Must be Santa” and “Holly Jolly Christmas/Frosty the Snowman” and more mature moving fare like a slowed down take on “We Need a Little Christmas,” “Celebrate me Home” with Gavin DeGraw, and “Christmas Time is Here.” I was particularly impressed with the new-to-me cover of Brandi Carlisle’s “The Heartache Can Wait” a pretty, sad on-the-verge-of-a-break-up-at-the-holidays song.
