House of Thieves

This book starts with a very placid dinner party of the elite class and quickly spirals into pockets of debauchery, lies and suspense.  The stoic front that the upperclass men portray in this book belies the fact that there is a lot of immorality happening under the surface.

This follows several members of the same family and none of them know what the other is doing to help/save the others and what trouble is just around the corner.

 

It's set in New York in the late 1880's.  It shows the lines between social classes and how they can be crossed.  This is the same author who wrote The Paris Architect which is just as enjoyable.  I love how he writes from many different characters perspectives and how they eventually merge together in unexpected ways.
