I’ll Give You the Sun

Nelson’s new teen book has been selected for the YALSA Top Ten best fiction for Young Adults in 2015, as well as the 2015 Michael L. Printz Award.  It conveys a message about family, loss, and relationships that are told in separate voices by each twin. The special bond which they secretly play out with make-believe games, shows how they can fight yet come to a compromise.  Just like the title, where one gives up the Sun so the other can take the Moon and the Stars, demonstrates the relationship between them.  Teens will definitely relate to this book that deals with falling in love and also LBGT subject matter.
