“How should you live your life?”

That’s a question Britt-Marie hasn’t quite faced but when she finds herself separated from her husband and in need of a job. So she takes a job as caretaker for the soon to be demolished community center in the dying town of Borg starting a journey that will change the community. Britt-Marie’s prickly shell cracks under the pressure of the town’s children desperately in need of a soccer coach. Mind you Britt-Marie hates soccer--but before she knows it she and the former coach’s daughter are taking the group to the local cup. Backman (A Man Called Ove) paints a picture that’s sad, beautiful, and tremendously hopeful with cast full of quirky and loveable characters.  This heartwarming story might appeal to readers of Alexander McCall Smith, Kate Maloy, or Katarina Bivald.
