Born with Teeth

While trying to find a new book, a friend recommended Born With Teeth. I hadn’t even known Kate Mulgrew had published a memoir. I’ve enjoyed her work since Heartbeat, admired her as Captain Janeway, and am amazed by the sheer gumption of Red. Immediately intrigued, I put the audiobook on hold and waited. To me, Kate Mulgrew has always seemed to be cut from the same cloth as Katherine Hepburn; a force to reckoned with and someone I truly admired. It feels wrong to say that I thoroughly enjoyed this memoir detailing with such brutal honesty the heart wrenching joys and sorrows of such a passionate life, but it was as if I was having a good long chat with a dear friend who I hadn’t talked with in a while. There may be tears, there may be laughter, but the time spent together is good for the soul.
