Kindred

Dana and Rufus are somehow connected through time and blood. Whenever Rufus is in trouble he calls to Dana who is pulled through space and time into antebellum Maryland. Dana is a black women and Rufus is a white slaveholder. Dana must learn how to reconcile her 1976 mindset to pre-civil war America. She has to learn what it means to be free and to be a slave. Kindred is an amazing book about a woman who has to face her past and her present and answer questions about home and identity. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in history, fantasy, time travel, and identity.
