Testing the Ice

Although most people think of Jackie Robinson in terms of breaking racial barriers in baseball, a leader and business man; he was also a father and not too fond of large bodies of water. It is a frigid winter’s day, all the kids want to ice skate, and Mom has said it’s o.k. (as long as dad goes with them.) A great story on overcoming fear. The lavish illustrations by Kadir Nelson seem to make the characters jump off the page.
