Step into the backstory of a Christmas Classic!

As a dancer, my childhood was shaped in many ways by the popular Christmas story of the Nutcracker, so I was thrilled to hear that Maguire was working his magic on the story. What he presents in Hiddensee is a dark but fascinating study of the life of the magical toymaker, Herr Drosselmeier, weaving together Grimm-style fairy tale, Classical myth, and German Romanticism. I enjoyed this strangely charming story.
