The Righteous Mind: Why Good People Are Divided by Politics and Religion

The author begins this book by discussing the quote made popular during the 1992 Los Angeles Riots by police beating victim, Rodney King. Throughout the book, Haidt provides insights as to why it’s so difficult to navigate relationships with people who have varying religious and political perspectives. In an effort to understand why Americans have become so polarized, the author examines human nature through the lens of moral psychology. Although this book’s tone is academic in nature the author does a good job of periodically summarizing key concepts throughout the text. This is a very timely book for our divided nation.
