More a who was it, than a who done it.
Present-day: Seventeen year-old Rowan Chase decides she must try to solve the mystery of just whose bones are found beneath the floorboards in her historic home in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Now jump back about 97 years: Will Tillman is just trying to learn the family business by selling Victrola’s and impress his father. When he sells to a black teenager during the Jim Crow era in 1921 all manner of troubles ensue. This mystery is set within a little known period in Oklahoma history detailing how the KKK started a race riot and destroyed an African American neighborhood in 1921. I enjoyed the back and forth voices and time periods as Rowan and Will described what happens. Notable characters and interesting variables will keep you guessing as to who the bones belong to.
