Detroit-based fantasy author Saladin Ahmed offers his first creator-owned comic--a gritty supernatural crime thriller set in 1970s Detroit and featuring a dogged journalist investigating horrific crimes that are to similar to the one that stole her husband. This has the feel of Kolchak the Night Stalker or X-Files but through the lens of a queer woman of color. It also has wonderful local detail and timely parallels to today when looking at race relations and sexism. I’m really hoping to see more of Abbott in the future!
