Excellent food-for-thought novel based on the tangled lives of the Manson Family;  painful and gorgeous portrait of seeking recognition, relationships among women, society norms, pushing boundaries and breaking pacts, and how to be a teenage girl in a time of social upheaval.  Never more timely.  Mother, sister, daughter, friend, lover, killer...different roles, same play.
