Santa Fe Mourning

A first book by Amanda Allen introduces a new heroine, Madeleine Vaughn-Alwin. Following the tragic death of her childhood sweetheart, Maddie decides to leave her wealthy New York life to start over in California.  However, after making a stop in Santa Fe, she decides this is home.  When she hires a local Native American family, the Anayas, life becomes a little complicated when the father is murdered.  The police are reluctant to investigate and Maddie is forced to become involved.  A great read.
