Pop culture has given many people a very skewed idea of hyenas, but hyena expert (and local MSU professor!) Kay Holekamp has spent her life’s work trying to correct that impression. Far from the mangy, screechy, dirty scavengers of “The Lion King”, hyenas are intelligent hunters with an incredibly complex social life, and there is more to learn about them everyday.
