This YA novel features a feisty high school junior living in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan determined to do one thing: play hockey! Michigan Manning knows she has what it takes to play college hockey, and nothing will stop her. She is made of tough stock and no matter budget cuts, sexual threats or brutal beatings she is not going to quit playing with the men’s team at her school. But is she putting her safety in jeopardy by not exposing the bullying and hazing she is facing practically daily from boys on her team?  This was a tough read because I wanted so bad for this young woman to stand up to her oppressors immediately. In the end she shows her courage and charts a path for the younger girls in her community to also play hockey.
