A fan since The Book of Speculation, I’m always on the lookout for something new by Swyler and I was not disappointed with this strange and lovely novel that looks at relationships between people and in time, through the life of Nedda Pappas. The narrative, split between her childhood starting the day before the Challenger explosion in 1986 and into a near future when she’s an astronaut on a mission to the edge of the galaxy. It’s a lovely story about secrets, fears, and wanting those perfect moments to go on forever—even when they shouldn’t.
