Fast-paced biography for younger readers

This is a great one for young fans of the "Who Was"series. Not much is known about the pirate queen who once exerted control over the economy of the South China Sea, but author Helaine Becker does a great job filling in some gaps to tell the story of a woman prospering under unlikely circumstances. Rich illustrations paired with Becker's poetic text make this a quick, powerful read for kids who are just starting to appreciate the joys of biographies.
