Alternating between the revelry of women breaking into restaurants after hours to throw wild feasts and the tumultuous college years that caused our narrator to take solace in cooking, this book shows both the freedom of taking up space as well as the events that lead to a need to reclaim this freedom. This book was simultaneously much darker than I expected and more love-filled. (Content warning for disordered eating and sexual assault in flashbacks.)
