Before the Coffee Gets Cold

This is not your typical time travel story

Funiculi Funicula is a quaint café in Tokyo that serves a very unusual blend of coffee.  It allows the person, who sips it, to travel back in time to the past or ahead to the future.  This Japanese novel, translated into English, is a tale of four interconnected people who have close ties to this café.  Each one of them feels compelled, at some point in the story, to embark on this mysterious time traveling journey to confront unresolved personal issues. 
This book is not your typical time travel novel that you would find in the science fiction genre.  Instead, it is categorized as general fiction, because it is primarily about the complexity of human relationships. I really enjoyed this book and I think it will leave readers with an empowering message. None of us can redo our past or accurately anticipate what will happen in the future.  However, we are in control of how we perceive our past and envision our hopes for the future.
