What You Wish For

Choose joy.

I started out thinking this was a story that tried too hard. The characters too quirky, the school too good to be true. A school librarian meets a tough new principal from her past, and are there sparks? But there are brilliant moments, and the message to choose joy over fear and risk love when you meet it was refreshing. Plus, other librarians out there will recognize the conversation with a parent who is convinced their 3rd grader is ready for Steinbeck all too well. Go into it knowing it's the equivalent of hot cocoa on a snowy day, even though it's set in Galveston and you won't be disappointed.
