One part noir thriller, one part meditation on life

This skillfully illustrated story starts out like pulp fiction and then expertly unfurls into something more. Lines between heroes and villains, the past and present blur. Nazi rallies in Madison Square Gardens? Big business burning out the little guy? Suddenly doing the wrong thing feels right. Echoes from the past begin to feel less like nostalgia and more like a call to action. Readers may see a correlation between the societal growing pains of the Wild West and the 1930's depicted in the story and the social changes happening now. If you thought that the Western genre was on its last legs, Ed Brubaker's Pulp just gave it some fresh horses.
