These lectures are one of the hidden gems available on Hoopla
This is a series of nineteen 25-minute lectures by Douglas Gentile, who is a psychology professor and researcher at Iowa State University. He is also a practicing Buddhist monk from the Zen tradition. Over the course of these lectures, Gentile does a good job of conveying complex and profound Buddhist concepts in a manner which is understandable to a lay audience. I especially liked the way he interweaves personal anecdotes from his own experience into his talks.
I consider lectures produced by the company, Learn 25, to be one of the hidden gems available on CADL’s Hoopla digital platform. They are definitely a good resource for lifelong learners.
I’ve enjoyed many of them over the past few years on a variety of topics. Currently, there are just over 500 lecture titles available to listeners. Topics include Catholicism, Christianity, history, psychology, spirituality, wellness, world religions, and more.
