Hawaii, friendship, & 1944

World War II era Hawaii, mystery, romance, anti-Japanese sentiment gone awry, neighbor turning against neighbor, lonely women holding down the homefront and holding up each other… I can hear the ukuleles, I can feel the leeward breeze and the ocean spray, and smell the homemade pie being sold at the roadside stands to soldiers, trying to lift their spirits, before they head out to the Pacific theater. Mmmm… much to enjoy here in a fictional tale of the lesser-known post-Pearl Harbor happenings on the Big Island near the end of the war.
