So, in all honesty I didn’t pay much attention to Mayor Pete until after he pulled out of the presidential primaries, and completely missed that his husband was a Traverse City native. This memoir is a raw and honest one about growing up in conservative northern Michigan—but touching on how political decisions made by others shaped his life. He touches on the points he honed on the campaign trail—including the issues with student loans, rethinking healthcare, and lgbt rights. It was moving while also being fun and chatty. Oh, and audio fans, he does a lovely job as a reader.
