There are some sayings or advice that are given to high school students:“You only live once”; Get involved in extracurricular activities during high school (well, not an exact saying but something people say you should do); and “You do you”

Well, meet 17-year-old high school junior Olivia “Liv” James. Just like any other person, Olivia has had dreams, wishes, hopes and expectations about life during high school. And, just like any other person she has been hesitant to pursue those dreams, wishes, and hopes. Now, her expectations are a whole different topic that you’ll read a lot about. It is very interesting to see how Olivia interacts with her peers and makes decisions. A word of advice while reading this book: pay attention to who Olivia’s role models are, what she decides about band, chemistry, friends, classmates and how she feels about her decisions. Decisions that can make an immediate change in her life and for her future goals. You might be surprised at who Olivia thinks she is and who she ends up being. Finally, there is an important part of Olivia’s life that cannot be left out, family. Will they help or hurt? 

Olivia’s journey is an interesting one. Whether the reader is a current high school student or graduate, take the time to reflect on how high school is/was for you. Would you make some of the same decisions as Olivia? What or would you do anything different? What advice would you give her? Hopefully there is a sequel to this book to see what happens during her senior year.
