Tragedy can break a family apart, sometimes years after the initial impact. Fractures can be seen only in retrospect, and the work required to rebuild one's own identity is constant. I know that's super vague, but I would hate to run the surprise that waits for you in the first third of this book. I can say that it deals with childhood, with estrangement, and with human-animal relationships. But no more! I cannot stress this enough: If you enjoy plot twists, do not read anything about this book!
