The 1980s hitmakers return with a terrific (tear-ific?) album

People "of a certain age" may remember Tears For Fears as the band that provided at least part of the soundtrack of their 1980s school days. Younger folks may have discovered them via the cover of "Mad World" that appeared in the 2001 film Donnie Darko...and anyone younger than that may have no idea who these guys are.

Well, after an 18 year absence, TFF are back with The Tipping Point. This album isn't just a "isn't it nice that these two guys can still make music" kind of album, this is legitimately one of the best albums of their career--and might end up being one of the top albums of 2022. All the hallmarks that made Tears For Fears great in the first place are back: memorable earworm-y melodies, intelligent lyrics, and a seamless interweaving of synthesized instrumentation with standard guitar/bass/drums.
