A new Green Lantern attempts to bring peace to an alien society that has turned off its emotions

Jemisin understands what makes a Green Lantern story great, creating obstacles for new Green Lantern Sojourner "Jo" Mullein's pursuit of peace that both can't be removed by blowing them up with a power ring and require understanding a literally and figuratively alien society. Throw in a society that is technologically suppressing its emotions, the very thing that powers a Green Lantern's ring, and you have a fascinating tension between Jo and the aliens she is trying to help.
