A Chinese-inspired magical realism tale of star-crossed lovers

Their families have hated each other for years, but Hunter and Luna have been inexplicably drawn to one another even before the first earthquake cracked their town in two. As Hunter’s family’s doom grows ever closer, and Luna’s family pressure grows ever heavier, both teens turn to each other for escape. 
I loved the way that Pan paints the scenery and emotions of her characters in her writing, it felt beautifully vivid. The magical realism aspect of it enhances the fairytale-like feeling of the work. Overall, a great follow-up to Pan’s first novel, The Astonishing Color of After.
